Valuation is the process of determining the current worth of an asset, company, region or country.  Valuation may take into consideration a variety of factors such as the prospect of future earnings, the market value of assets or a company, economic conditions and government influences.

Price –to-book is a ratio used to compare a stock's market value to its book value, and is calculated by dividing the current closing price of the stock by the latest quarter's book value per share.

Price-to-earnings ratio or P/E ratio is a valuation ratio of a company's current share price compared to its per-share earnings.
