To All Shareholders,

After a successful 15 years at the firm, of which 13 years have been as CEO, William Hackett has decided to retire from Matthews Asia. The firm is currently working on a succession plan that is expected to lead to a new CEO being appointed during the first half 2022. Bill will continue as CEO of Matthews Asia until the appointment of a successor and will remain at the firm for a transition period to ensure a seamless transfer of responsibilities. A further announcement will be made in due course.

During Bill’s tenure as CEO, he has led the firm during a period of strong growth that has seen our assets under management grow from $4.0 billion as at February, 27, 2009 to $27.5 billion at November, 30, 2021. During this period of growth, the firm has expanded into Asia and Europe and opened offices in Shanghai, Hong Kong and London. With an experienced and tenured senior management team, we are confident that a new CEO can continue to build on Bill’s achievements and execute on our long-term strategic priorities.
